Aging and Disability Resource Centers (ADRC)
The Aging and Disability Resource Center (ADRC) is designed to empower older adults and persons with disabilities to make informed choices about their services and supports. This will streamline access to those services and ensure their individual needs will be met. The ADRC can refer individuals to an array of in-home, community- based and institutional services, as well as provide decision-making support through a service called Options Counseling. The ADRC is a trusted source of information where people of all agencies, abilities and income levels and their caregivers can go to obtain assistance in planning for their future long-term service and support needs.

Centers for Independent Living
Centers for Independent Living (CIL) promote the self-reliance of individuals with disabilities through education, advocacy, training and support. The core services provided by all CILs are: individual and systems advocacy, information and referral services, peer counseling, independent living skills, and deinstitutionalization. For satellite office locations, call or check the individual CIL websites. Centers may be able to provide services statewide.

Community Developmental Disability Organizations (CDDOs)
Community Developmental Disability Organizations (CDDOs) are the single point of entry for an individual or family to obtain services through the developmental disabilities system in Kansas. CDDOs are responsible for determining whether a person qualifies for services, working with the person and/or the person’s family or guardian in choosing from service options and referring those persons to other agencies if additional supports are needed.

Older Individuals that are Blind
Services for people who are blind or visually impaired are provided through a contract from the Vocational Rehabilitation Services to two groups: Alphapointe Association for the Blind, Kansas City and Envision Vision Rehabilitation Center, Wichita. These groups provide services to support independent living and employment. These groups increase capacity in specialized areas such as
orientation and mobility, rehabilitation teaching, independent living skills training, Braille instruction and assistive technology.
